<'Baraka' means Blessing in Arabic>
Baraka Little Library was established in July of 2018 as a safe space for refugee mothers and children in Itaewon, Yongsan-Gu. We facilitate Korean language and Korean culture classes in order for the newly settled mothers and children to better familiarise themselves with our lifestyle, culture and learning environment. Aside from the language and culture classes, we also facilitate English, Math, Music, Art and Computer Science classes as well as after-school culture immersion sessions for their effective integration into our community.

Greetings

The Republic of Korea has become a multicultural society with over 2.5 million foreigners residing in the country. Baraka Library is a place for women and children who have come a long way from countries that are linguistically and culturally distant from Korea. While we focus on Korean classes, we also offer English, math, music and art classes and help with their settlement into local communities through sports activities and cultural experiences. We believe Korea’s future value will increase when migrant women and children settle into society and effective social integration takes place. As we embrace a multicultural society in the global age, we hope that through Baraka Library, we can welcome migrant women and children who are living among us and accompany them in their journey.
